Usually, whenever people get sick their overall attitude about the world turns from rosy to gloomy. When feeling ill most people are not excited about anything and look at most tasks as a chore. They do not talk much. They feel pessimistic. They dwell on their misery, pity themselves and feel there is no escape. This is exactly how Satan wants us to feel. He wants us to be miserable, just like he is. By adding a positive perspective and focusing on our eternal destiny, we can rise above this despair, knowing that such privations are minuscule and benefit us by strengthening and refining us. |

If you knew what the major obstacle to your own success was, would you do something about it? Why do so many Christians struggle to make ends meet while God so clearly promises that we shall have a full and abundant life? (John 10: 10) You may not realize it, but your miracle depends on who you are! When God delivered the Israelites from Egypt, He could have led them directly into the Promised Land, a journey of eleven days! (Deut. 1: 2) The reason He had them go the long way through the Red Sea was because He knew that they were not ready to face giants. The Israelites had acquired a slave mentality in Egypt. They had no idea how to come up against obstacles in their lives. All they knew was that, if they had tried to rebel against their masters, they would have been severely punished. Consequently, they were filled with fear. They would have preferred returning to the familiar slavery rather than fighting an enemy they did not know! (Ex. 13: 17) |

What's not to love about Thanksgiving? It's the start of a four-day weekend. You don't have to get up too early. Sometime in the afternoon, you gather with family to share a huge, delicious meal, with guaranteed leftovers. There's football and a long nap for dad, fellowhip and fun for everyone else. Best of all, except for the food, no shopping is required to have a wonderful day. For that reason, alone, adults love Thanksgiving. |

Seeking Christ in any way possible, especially through prayerfully spending time with Him, is the most basic obedience I can imagine. On the same note, failing to seek Him through prayer is the most blatant disobedience I can imagine. How to pray is also important. This must be true if the Spirit of God Himself goes out of His way to intercede on our behalf with His own unimaginable kind of praying, too deep for us to comprehend. Not only does the Spirit intercede on our behalf, He also teaches our hearts how to pray and approach Him better. It is good for youthful believers to pray for whatever is on their minds, no matter how "unspiritual" these things may seem, so long as they sincerely and consistently keep praying for them. |
