Charles A. (June) Coles, 72, of Elliston, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 29, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mattie Graham Coles. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elliston, serving as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Treasurer and various other capacities as God lead him. June served in the United States Navy and was retired from General Electric in Salem. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Viola Paige Coles; son, Matthew B. Coles, of Elliston; and sister, Patricia Ann Coles Wright and husband, Edward, of Roanoke. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Building Fund c/o First Baptist Church of Elliston. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2008, in the First Baptist Church Cemetery, Elliston by the Rev. Kenneth Wright. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2008, at the Roanoke Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, 540-366-0707.
